Ms Amor Vieira
Head of School
I have been working in international schools for more than 27 years, leading the learning within various curricula and frameworks. I completed my teacher training in the University of London and started my career in the British educational system, soon after that I started teaching the International Baccalaureate. I have been a part of the SEK Education Group in a variety of roles for the last 15 years, working to implement innovative pedagogy in three of their schools. I am passionate about building collaborative learning communities, where we design assessment for learning tools that enhance self-awareness in our students.

Dr Fatema Al Hinai
Vice Principal
With over 20 years of experience in education, I have held various roles, including nearly a decade as a high school principal. After earning my PhD in Educational Administration, I transitioned to a training specialist, where I refined my skills in instructional leadership. My career includes experience in several international schools, providing me with a broad global perspective. Currently, as the Vice Principal at New World International School, I am dedicated to creating a safe and stimulating environment where students excel academically and pursue their passions.

Nada Fathy
Head of MEO subjects
I’m the Head of the Ministry of Education Subjects. I have worked in various international schools in Egypt and the Gulf region, gaining extensive 14 years of experience in both the International Baccalaureate and British systems. My passion lies in enhancing the quality of education by supporting teachers and developing engaging curriculum that not only enhances language skills but also cultivates critical thinking and cross-cultural understanding. I work with my team ensuring learning experiences for our students where every student is empowered to explore and celebrate the richness of their heritage.

Cecilia Flores
Primary & KG Coordinator
I am the Primary Coordinator, with 34 years of experience as an educator, 28 of which have been in international schools. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of living in five different countries and working with students from over 25 nationalities, which has shaped my global perspective on education. I firmly believe that every child can learn, and my passion lies in guiding them to become the best possible version of themselves.

Zuha Saleh
Middle School Coordinator
I am the Middle School Coordinator. I hold a Children Education Certificate from Liverpool John Moore’s University and have been fortunate to work in several IB international schools over the past 9 years. Throughout my career, I have developed a passion about education and its ability to transform individual lives and contribute to community growth. I strive to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to navigate a rapidly changing world. By creating a supportive learning environment, I empower students to think critically, collaborate, and take initiative to tackle future challenges.

Karl Derbyshire
EAL teacher
I have been teaching English as Additional language since 2010. I completed my CELTA certification at the LILA Liverpool to then teach English in a variety of educational institutions in Spain. Amongst others, I have been part of the British Council international team and I have also lectured at the University Camilo José Cela in Madrid. My motivation is to see students develop their communication, both oral and in writing, as they progress through their first academic year in our linguistic immersion programme.

Social Worker
My name is Ruba Bint Al-Mahdi, and I am the school social worker with 30 years of experience. My mission is to create a safe and happy environment for all students and staff. I believe that by fostering strong connections, we can ensure everyone feels valued and heard. I am here to listen and support each child as they navigate their challenges and celebrate their successes together.

As the Head of Operations at New World International School, I bring over 30 years of experience in educational management and organizational leadership. With a strong commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment, I oversee operational excellence and ensure the highest safety and international compliance standards to support our academic delivery. My extensive background equips me to implement strategic initiatives that enhance student experience and drive institutional growth, I believe my role is integral to the school’s mission to inspire and educate future leaders.

Guidance Counsellor
I am the Guidance Counsellor and a Teacher at our wonderful school. With 17 years of experience teaching in International Schools across the UK, South Africa, and Oman. My passion is to support every learner in reaching their full potential. I believe in guiding students with compassion and respect, helping them navigate their individual journeys, both academically and personally. I look forward to being part of your child’s development and providing the guidance they need to thrive.

Hiba Abu Al Sameed
ICT Integrator
I am the ICT integrator at NWIS, with 13 years of experience teaching ICT. I am passionate about my role, knowing that technology is essential in fostering young learners’ development and making education more engaging and meaningful. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) and a Master’s in Educational Technology, both of which have enhanced my ability to integrate technology across all subjects. Furthermore, I manage the school’s LEGO program, encouraging hands-on exploration and creative problem-solving through STEM activities.

Tasneem Hassan
SEN Coordinator
I am the Special Education Needs Coordinator at NWIS, bringing 15 years of international experience, including nine years in Oman. I am a certified Speech Therapist and EQ Assessor, holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Liverpool John Moore’s University. My passion lies in creating inclusive and nurturing environments that cater to each student’s unique needs, fostering their growth and independence. With a strong focus on mental health and communication, I adopt a holistic approach to education, empowering students to develop confidently and reach their full potential.

Mahra ALMuqrashi
Learning Resource Center specialist
I Am a graduate of Kuwait University with a degree of excellence and a specialized librarian. I have over 3 years of experience working in international schools, with expertise in organizing events and holding successful book fairs to promote a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. I am a member of the Kuwait Library Association (IS), which allows me to stay informed about the latest developments in the field of library science. Additionally, I hold Naseej certificate for advanced Arab systems, which enhances my expertise in managing advanced systems. My vision is to help students become globally-minded thinkers, prepared for future challenges by integrating diverse educational strategies that cater to various cultural backgrounds, ensuring a rich learning experience.

Laila Ali Al Kiyumi
School Nurse
I am the school nurse and I have more than 24 years experience in general nursing . My role in the school is to look after the health of all students & staff. I carry out in-school treatments and deliver health education work shope as needed. I also administer vaccinations as prescribed by the Ministry of Health. I am passionate about helping others and my goal is to help the NWIS community to live happy and healthy lives.

Mariangel Delgado
Spanish Teacher
With 5 years of experience as a Spanish teacher and an IPGSE from Bristol University, I integrate both academic knowledge and practical skills into my classroom leadership. I focus on creating a supportive, nurturing, and collaborative environment that challenges students to reach their full potential. By listening to their needs and providing emotional support, I foster their language acquisition and personal growth. I aim to empower students to become independent, lifelong learners while encouraging reflection on their learning process and the quality of their work.

Maclaran Webb
Head of Admissions & Marketing
I graduated from Indiana University with a degree in International Relations, with a minor in Arabic and Islamic Studies and a specialization in Global Communications. I speak English and Arabic and am proficient in Spanish. I am passionate about building relationships, and understanding how diversity fosters an environment where differing world views and talents come together to teach us to be thoughtful, resourceful, and creative. This passion has been pivotal in Admissions in NWIS, as I guide and welcome families to our international community.

Aseya Ahmed
Admissions Officer
As Admissions Officer, I guide families through the admissions process and ensure a warm welcome and transition into the community. I graduated from Bahrain University with a degree in Business Administration and have been working for over 10 years in this field and am passionate about working with kids and families. I speak Arabic, English, and Russian. I look forward to welcoming you to our community!

Lee Anne Makeen
English Teacher
I am a dedicated and experienced educator with a strong academic foundation in English Language and Literature, holding a BA degree as well as a CELTA certificate and a Post-graduate Certificate in Education. Specialising in teaching English Home Language and English First Additional Language to secondary school students, I have honed my skills across diverse cultural and educational settings. With five years of international teaching experience in China, Cambodia and Oman, I bring a global perspective and a passion for fostering language proficiency and literary appreciation in my students. My journey reflects a commitment to excellence in education and a deep understanding of the nuances of teaching English in multicultural environments. I believe in a student-centred, empathetic approach to teaching, incorporating a variety of different approaches to a learning objective, be this kinetic, auditory or visual.
